Project Updates September 19, 2025

Westwood Magnolia Parkway Improvement District (“WMPID”) is improving Tamina Road to deliver an enhanced corridor for residents and businesses. We understand and share the frustration regarding recent water and other utility service disruptions along the corridor.

WMPID does not own or operate water, sewer, gas, or communications utilities on Tamina. Those systems are owned and operated by the respective utility providers (including Aqua Texas for water). During construction, previously installed service lines have at times been encountered at shallow depths and, in many cases, have not been marked by the utility owner. When a line is damaged, our contractor has been instructed to immediately notify the utility provider. If the provider cannot respond quickly, the contractor may make a temporary repair to restore service and prevent site flooding; any regulatory notices (such as boil-water notices) can only be issued by the utility provider.

For service issues, boil-water guidance, or restoration timelines, please contact your utility provider directly:

WMPID will continue consistent efforts to coordinate with the utility owners to reduce disruptions and keep the road project moving. Please note that Tachus Fiber Internet is installing their new fiber optic lines along Tamina and may run into unmarked utilities as well. They anticipate having their line installed by October 3rd.

The road construction phase is on-track for substantial completion by the end of the year. Once that phase is completed, the median landscape phase will begin.

The final road design will be a one-two lane road with turn lanes, and a bike path will run along the curb side similar to the design shown below.

We appreciate your patience as we work toward an improved Tamina Road. Construction updates are posted regularly to the website at www.WMPID.org or follow us on LinkedIn

Project Updates December 2, 2024

The Tamina Road Construction project continues in the Westwood Magnolia Parkway Improvement District (WMPID)! Please utilize the Tamina Road Project page on the WMPID website for information on construction updates.

Drainage

  • The Tamina Road improvement includes enhancing the existing drainage to a combination of revising the roadway profile, open ditches, and additional closed storm sewer. As approved by Montgomery County, the drainage is designed to improve the storm runoff and add capacity to reduce the impacts of larger storm events.

Traffic Flow

  • The project is currently in the road construction phase, but there is good news! The recent construction work by Texas DOT has just been completed at the intersection of FM1488 and Tamina Road. Traffic flow should improve now that this construction has moved further East.
  • Please be aware that construction in other sections is still occurring in specific sections with the potential of shifting traffic lanes, and limited through traffic may occur occasionally.

Utilities

  • Engineers are working closely with suppliers due to challenges in identifying the exact location of all utilities. Some of the local utilities have lost track of the location of their feeds, resulting in more utility repairs than anticipated.

Driveways

  • Landowner driveways will be reconstructed in concrete and be the same width as the existing driveway.
  • If only one driveway exists, half of the driveway will be constructed at a time to prevent any closure.
  • Multiple driveways will be done one at a time.

The project is progressing at a pace with an estimated completion date of late summer 2025. For the most up-to-date project news and/or to report construction concerns, please send inquiries through the WMPID Contact Us website page.
